If you have a mechanical engineer (MGI) salary, the chances are good you’re in the top 10% in terms of earnings, according to research from IT firm TNS.
In its latest study, the firm said it has tracked more than 200,000 MGI salaries from 1,500 companies.
It’s the first time the IT firm has been able to track the average salary of a mechanical engineering engineer, and it comes at a time when MGIs are being increasingly sought for the role of factory workers.
In a survey of the top 100 MGI-based companies, TNS found that only 39% of them were hiring.
TNS’s survey also found that the median annual salary for a mechanical-engineer job in the US is $75,000.
The survey also showed that only one in three employers surveyed were considering hiring an MGI.
The vast majority of the companies were hiring employees who had never worked in the field, the company said.
The research showed that MGI jobs are largely located in industries that rely heavily on manufacturing.
“A large portion of the jobs in the automotive and automotive manufacturing sector are located in rural areas, while a majority of jobs in other industries are in urban areas,” TNS said in a statement.
The firm said that MGEIs earn between $85,000 and $115,000 annually, depending on the position and the skills they have to offer.
It also said that while there are more than 40,000 automotive mechanics in the United States, only 2,700 of them are MGI candidates.
